• Mathematics in AlphaGo and Beyond

• Abstract: We explain how AlphaGo is designed and how the learning is done by focusing on the mathematical models that underlie the inner-workings of AlphaGo. We will then discuss on how AlphaGo-style artificial intelligence may interact with mathematics research and the various ramifications thereof. (Plenary Lecture)

• Matrix Rank and Linear Preservers

• Abstract: We present several definitions of rank over fields, rings, and anti-negative semirings and discuss their preservers. The historical development of these preserver problems is sketched and we end with a discussion of completely positive rank and the equivalent rank for Boolean matrices and graphs. (Plenary Lecture)
